…As SSG Charged Stakeholders to Take Ownership of Government Projects.
On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Engr Jude Asogwa Chinedu, received the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, and his team, who visited on behalf of the State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. The visit featured an interactive session with ndi Nsukka, during which the SSG gave a detailed analysis on the ongoing development projects of the Mbah administration, with special reference to the Smart Green School and the Type 2 Hospital projects ongoing in all 260 Wards in Enugu State. These projects form part of a broader plan to elevate Enugu State’s infrastructure, healthcare, and educational standards, aligning with the Governor’s commitment to sustainable development and innovation in governance.
Mayor Asogwa, joined by key community stakeholders, expressed sincere gratitude for the Governor’s dedication to transformational change and lauded his inclusive approach to governance. In his opening remarks, Mayor Asogwa commended Governor Mbah as a “one-day-one-project” Governor, whose relentless focus on moving Enugu State to a position of prominence reflects a deep commitment to the welfare of all citizens. He assured Prof. Onyia and his team of Nsukka’s unalloyed support for the administration, noting that the Governor’s fair and equitable distribution of projects demonstrates the administration’s recognition of Nsukka’s vital role within the state.
Mayor Asogwa emphasised that the Governor’s policies have brought tangible benefits to Nsukka residents, with projects designed to impact lives positively and stimulate economic growth. “Nsukka is ready to support every effort that brings development to our people,” Asogwa stated, underscoring the enthusiasm with which the local government and its people have embraced the Governor’s vision.
Addressing Nsukka’s stakeholders, Prof. Onyia called on the communities to take ownership of government projects. He highlighted the importance of local oversight in ensuring that projects meet established standards and deadlines. Prof. Onyia stressed that when communities actively participate in monitoring projects, they help maintain quality and accountability, guaranteeing that the investments yield the maximum benefit for the people.
Discussing the Smart Green School initiative, Prof. Onyia described it as a forward-looking educational model that prepares children to thrive in an increasingly competitive global landscape. He noted that the Smart Green Schools will incorporate cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices, setting a new standard in educational excellence for the state. This initiative is expected to enrich the learning environment, foster innovation, and cultivate essential skills in Enugu State’s youths, giving them a competitive edge on the global stage.
He further implored the Traditional Rulers, Town Union President Generals, Councilors, and other community leaders to align with the State Government’s goals and ensure the full realisation of each project’s intended impact. He reminded them that by working together, the government and the people can foster sustainable development, making Enugu State a model for progress and innovation.
