In a bid to enhance the efficient management of major markets in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area, including improving revenue collection and remittance processes to align with prevailing best practices—particularly the Disruptive Innovation Model championed by His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu State—and as part of the Chairman’s commitment under the Progress Agenda, the Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Council, Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, has approved the following adjustments regarding Orie Igbo-Eze, Nkwo Ibagwa, Afor Unadu, and all other markets within the Local Government Area:
1. *Dissolution of Committees, Unions, and Groups*
All committees, bodies, unions, groups, or individuals, regardless of their titles or designations, previously constituted or inaugurated by the Council to manage Orie Igbo-Eze, Nkwo Ibagwa, Afor Unadu, and other markets within the Council are hereby dissolved with immediate effect, effective today, January 7, 2025.
Accordingly, members of these entities are directed to hand over all materials, documents, funds, or other items in their possession obtained by virtue of their membership to the Office of the Secretary to the Local Government, Igbo-Eze South, within 48 hours of this publication.
2. *Suspension of Revenue Collection*
The collection of all revenues due to the Council from Orie Igbo-Eze, Nkwo Ibagwa, Afor Unadu, and other markets within the Council is hereby suspended until further notice.
Traders and the general public are advised not to make any payments, levies, or taxes intended for the Council to any individual, group, or authority claiming to represent the Council. Such individuals or groups should be reported immediately to the Council for appropriate action. Further directives on revenue collection will be communicated in due course.
The Chairman expresses sincere appreciation to all members of the dissolved committees, unions, and groups for their contributions to the administration of the markets and wishes them success in their future endeavors. He also encourages them to remain open to future opportunities to serve the community.
The Chairman assures the good people of Igbo-Eze South that these measures are taken solely to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in market administration.
