In a rare act of generosity, the Chief Executive Officer of Anyanwu Oil and Gas and Ganico Creation Nig. Ltd, Mr. Obetta Godwin Ngwu AKA #Ganico, has taken over the payment of electricity bills for the entire Alor-Agu community in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Obetta, who confirmed this yesterday, disclosed that he has already paid the community’s March electricity bill and has committed to fully covering all subsequent bills until December 2025.

He categorically stated that no indigene or resident of Alor-Agu should spend a kobo on electricity payments for the rest of the year in the community, adding that the gesture was his own way of giving back to his people and supporting grassroots development.

“This is a personal sacrifice for my people. No one from Alor-Agu should worry about paying electricity bills again this year. Let us enjoy the light and work together to move our community forward,” Obetta said.

He further encouraged other well-meaning individuals, particularly sons and daughters of Alor-Agu, to emulate the gesture by identifying areas where they can intervene for the collective good of the community.

It would be recalled that power supply was restored to Alor-Agu in December 2024 through the intervention of the Chairman of Igbo-Eze South LGA and Deputy Chairman of ALGON, Enugu state, Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, after the community endured nearly five years of total blackout.

Residents have also lauded the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for sustaining steady power supply across the state and creating the enabling environment that continues to attract private sector investments, especially at the grassroots.

They described Obetta’s intervention as timely and impactful, saying it will go a long way in easing the financial burden on households and stimulating local economic activities.

With this development, Alor-Agu joins the growing list of communities benefiting from private-public synergy championed by progressive-minded individuals under the conducive leadership environment provided by Governor Mbah’s administration.
