Wednesday, 16 April 2025, the Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area and Deputy ALGON Chairman, Enugu State, Hon. Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, has successfully reimbursed JAMB registration fees for over 500 students from the 16 wards of the LGA.
The JAMB Reimbursement Programme is part of the broader 2025 Bursary, Tech, and Agro Empowerment Scheme initiated by Mayor Ukwueze. The scheme targets financial support and skill development for youths, with the goal of eliminating financial barriers to academic and professional advancement.
Under this initiative, each of the over 500 beneficiaries received a full refund of their JAMB registration fees and the cost of other expenses during registration after proper verification of their payment slips and application credentials. The exercise was meticulously organised to ensure transparency, fairness, and inclusiveness.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Ukwueze emphasized the importance of investing in education as a foundation for community and national development. He stated:
“No student in our local government should be denied the opportunity to pursue their academic goals due to financial limitations. This reimbursement is a show of our belief in your future and our commitment to support you in any way we can. Education is the greatest equaliser, and we are proud to be contributing to the shaping of a more enlightened and competitive generation.”
The event was well attended by community leaders, parents, educators and political stakeholders who commended the Chairman for his visionary leadership and consistent prioritisation of youth empowerment. Many described the gesture as unprecedented and a significant relief for struggling families.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Mayor Ukwueze, calling the initiative a “dream come true” and a motivation to study hard and succeed.
This JAMB Reimbursement further speaks of the Ukwueze administration’s alignment with the education-focused agenda of His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, in building a prosperous, skilled, and globally competitive Enugu State.
