Igbo-Eze South LGA Holds Successful Oath-Taking Ceremony for Returning Councilors, Elects Legislative Council Leaders

…Hon. Ugochukwu Ezugwu has been re-elected as Speaker of the Igbo-Eze South Legislative Council.

Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area today held a successful swearing-in ceremony for its 16 returning councilors, marking the beginning of their second consecutive term in office. This milestone event was led by the Chairman of the Council, Barr. Ugochukwu Ferdinand Ukwueze, at the LGA’s headquarters, with a distinguished gathering of political leaders and party officials.

 

Barr. Ukwueze commended the councilors on their dedication to public service, expressing confidence in their ability to continue delivering meaningful governance for the benefit of Igbo-Eze South.

“This new chapter offers us a renewed opportunity to drive impactful progress aligned with Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s administration, an era defined by disruptive innovation. As councilors, you play an essential role in our Progress Agenda. I have no doubt that, together, we will uphold the trust of our people,” he stated.

 

He also urged the councilors to focus on service and dedication to their wards, rather than on financial gain. He encouraged them to prioritize the tasks ahead, emphasizing that the true value of their roles lies in the positive changes and improvements they bring to the lives of their constituents.

 

“Let your legacy be defined by what you accomplish for the people, not by what you receive,” he stated, inspiring the councilors to embrace the Progress Agenda with commitment and purpose.

The oath-taking ceremony was overseen by Barr. F. A. Ezugwu, Chairman of the Council’s Customary Court, who conducted the proceedings in accordance with the 1999 Nigerian Constitution. The oath-taking ceremony was a complete success, held without incident and in full compliance with the 1999 Nigerian Constitution. The event was executed flawlessly, ensuring a smooth and formal start to the second term of the 16 councilors. It marked a moment of unity and commitment, setting the stage for the councilors to begin their work for the people of Igbo-Eze South LGA.

 

Following the ceremony, the councilors convened their first plenary session, where they elected their principal officers, bringing seasoned leaders back into office. These principal officers include:

Speaker of the Legislative Council: Hon. Ugochukwu Ezugwu (Alor-Agu Ward), re-elected to his role as Speaker.

Deputy Leader: Hon. Ugwuoke Matthias (Ezingwu Ward)

Majority Leader: Hon. Nnadi Onyemaechi (Umulolo Ward)

Chief Whip: Hon. Eze Faith C. (Nkalagu Ward)

Deputy Majority Leader: Hon. Eze Mmaduabuchi (Itchi Uwani Ward II)

Deputy Chief Whip: Hon. Odo Ifediorama (Uhunowerre Ward)

 

This seamless transition of leadership showcases Igbo-Eze South’s commitment to maintaining continuity while pushing forward with the community-focused initiatives of Mbah’s Disruptive Innovation and Ukwueze’s Progress Agenda.

 

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Hon. Princess Chinwendu Ogbonna, Vice Chairman of the Council; Hon. Ejike Amedu, PDP Chairman, Igbo-Eze South; Hon. Ugwu Chinwe, Treasurer of PDP Enugu State; Hon. Erochukwu Ugwueze, former member of the Enugu State House of Assembly; Hon. Ezema Dominic, former Council Chairman; Barr. Johnson Onah; and Hon. Nnamani Augustine, former Council Secretary and others.

 

With these experienced councilors at the helm, Igbo-Eze South is set to continue its journey toward robust development, upholding a commitment to transparency, youth empowerment, and community welfare under the Progress Agenda.
