“I’ve heard far too many stories about football clubs and national teams facing underhanded tactics when traveling. Teams land in foreign countries only to be held up for hours at the airport, bombarded with demands for obscure documents they should never need. During the COVID era, things got even worse — officials would conveniently declare the top ten players from a team as ‘positive’ for COVID, sidelining them before a crucial match. These acts of poor sportsmanship have plagued the sport for years, and we’ve failed to respond effectively.”
He continued: “Take, for instance, the recent issue involving the Nigerian national team in Libya. While I won’t comment directly since it’s under investigation, let me be clear — this behavior is unacceptable, and we won’t stand for it. This isn’t just about Nigeria and Libya; it’s about a pattern of unfair treatment that’s persisted for too long. We are committed to ensuring that justice prevails, and appropriate actions will be taken to end these practices once and for all.”
